Instructions for use
1. Cleaning
Cleaning the wound of dirt and bacteria is the essential first step to allow for proper wound healing. To prevent wound infection, use Hansaplast Wound Spray from a distance of approximately 10 cm across the entire wound area. Repeat if necessary, then gently dry the wound and surrounding skin area.
Important: A small wound should stop bleeding quickly. If bleeding continues, apply more gauze pads, keep pressure on the wound and seek medical attention.

2. Protection
Next, it is important to protect the wound from outside influences such as dirt and bacteria to allow for proper healing. Protect the wound with the Hansaplast wound dressing that best suits your needs. Observe the wound and change the dressing or bandage daily, unless your doctor tells you otherwise. You may find this article on treating wounds helpful.

3. Healing
Help your wound heal safely, quickly and with less risk of scar formation. Apply Hansaplast Wound Healing Ointment regularly until the wound heals completely. Carefully apply a thin layer once or twice a day. Make sure the opening of the tube does not come into contact with your wound. Hansaplast Wound Healing Ointment can be used on small open superficial wounds and at any stage of the healing process. If necessary, cover the wound with a dressing, bandage or compress.

1. How often should I change my dressing?
It is usually recommended to change first aid pads daily for hygienic reasons. It is recommended that some advanced dressings, such as the Fast Healing Dressing which provides moist conditions for wound healing, not be changed for up to two days or more so as not to interrupt the healing process.

2. Is it better to let small wounds air dry instead of applying a dressing?
One of the myths associated with wound care is that small cuts and scrapes should be left out in the air to heal faster. But it's just the opposite! Research indicates that covered wounds heal more efficiently and with a lower risk of infection. Hansaplast products provide protection until the wound is completely healed.

3. When should I seek medical care?

We recommend that you see a healthcare professional in the following circumstances:
– if the wound is deep and does not stop bleeding
– if the wound shows signs of infection such as redness, heat, pain and swelling
– if there are foreign bodies inside the wound
– if the wound is caused by animal or human bites
– if the wound is in the face area
– if tetanus vaccination has not been carried out
– and, of course, whenever you have questions or concerns.

4. What if my wound becomes infected and festers?
You should contact a healthcare professional if you see signs of infection. This circumstance not only includes the formation of pus, but also swelling, redness, heat, pain, itching or a burning sensation. In case of infection, the wound will need medical care and special medical treatment.

5. What dressing should I use for sensitive skin?
If you have very sensitive skin, we recommend using Hansaplast Sensitive plasters. These pads were specially developed for sensitive skin, being hypoallergenic and very well tolerated by the skin.

6. Which Hansaplast dressing is waterproof and water resistant?
The Hansaplast Aqua Protect and Aqua Protect XL/XXL dressings as well as the Fast Healing Dressings are waterproof and do not come off when showering or in contact with water. The Hansaplast Elastic range is water repellent. The material holds water to the surface, where it forms small droplets that are wiped away. All Hansaplast Universal dressings and Junior dressings are water resistant. Also the spray dressing is waterproof.

7. What dressings do you recommend for wounds on fingers?
For injuries and wounds on the hands and fingers, we recommend our special Hansaplast Elastic Finger Dressings. These pads are extra long and very flexible, to allow a perfect grip on the fingers.
